Response to an Inept YouTube Video

This is, officially one of the most inept things I have ever seen (in reference to the link above - in case you're interested in watching) and whoever made it not only has less than a novice understanding of the assassination of President Kennedy but a novice understanding of the difference between presumption and proof. This video was so ridiculous that it didn’t even make me mad in watching someone so grossly misrepresent a national tragedy, but I almost started laughing. And so, just for shits and giggles, I will address each of these 20 pieces of so-called proof that suggest Oswald “admitted” his guilt (even though nearly all of these reasons are not statements he made, or rather “admissions”). So here we go round the helter skelter!

1. AT THE EXACT MOMENT JFK IS SHOT OSWALD WENT UPSTAIRS FOR A COKE.
Okay. In Oswald’s statement of his events he said he ate his lunch in the first floor domino room, and then when he was done he went to get a Coke. The Coke machine is on the SECOND FLOOR of the Depository. So what in any of this statement suggests guilt. It’s just a statement of his actions, and the first time he was seen after the assassination was less than 90 seconds after it occurred… he was in the second floor lunchroom with a partially drank Coke. No guilt admissions whatsoever.

2. AFTER 12 HOURS OF INTERROGATION HE IS “CAUGHT OUT” AND ADMITS HE WENT DOWNSTAIRS.
Now I’m assuming “caught out” is meant to say he got busted in a lie, but this is just a complete mix up of two different events. Oswald was up on the 5th floor shortly before noon and said he went downstairs around then to have his lunch. This was his only admission of “going downstairs” and it has no correspondence to his statement of going upstairs, which was after his lunch.

3. 90 SECONDS AFTER KILLING JFK OSWALD WAS SUSPICIOUSLY CALM AFTER A POLICE POINTED HIS REVOLVER RIGHT AT HIM
In regards to how “calm” Oswald acted it was more in reference to whether or not he looked like someone who had just shot the President and then ran down several floors. To this Officer Baker, who pulled his revolver on Oswald, said that Oswald looked calm and collected. It had nothing to do with this notion that he was calm because he was a cold blooded murderer, but just in response to whether he looked like he’d just juiced himself with adrenaline and killed someone (and all the evidence of his actions here point against that).

4. OSWALD LIED ABOUT ONLY TAKING A SMALL BAG OF LUNCH TO WORK
This is in reference to the large brown paper bag story, whose only substantiation is photographs of officers holding it outside of the Book Depository and two witnesses: Oswald’s friend Buell Wesley Frazier and his sister Linnie Mae Randle, who said he had a paper package with him that morning. Even if their story is true, they said the back was too small to hold Oswald’s rifle and when the Warren Commission presented Frazier with the bag that was “found” he outright denied it was the one Oswald had. Despite being officially found in the sniper’s nest, none of the officers who found this nest recalled the bag being there and no official sniper’s nest pictures show the bag there (even though Dallas Police Captain Will Fritz said none of the evidence was to be moved till it was photographed). I can go on about this paper bag story but the sad truth is there is little to substantiate it and the official bag now in the national archives most certainly played no role in the assassination.

5. BECAUSE HIS “GETAWAY” BUS GOT STUCK IN TRAFFIC HE GOT OFF AND TOOK A TAXI.
This might be credible proof of a fleeing suspect, if it were accurate. There is only one eyewitness account putting Oswald on a bus or in a taxi after the assassination. And the bus Oswald supposedly got on was driving back towards the assassination scene. Why would a fleeing assassin get on a bus going that way? Neither the bus driver nor the cab driver could identify Oswald as being in their respective vehicles while at least seven witnesses claimed to see Oswald leave the assassination scene in a Green Rambler station wagon driven by a dark complected man.

6. OSWALD WAS THE ONLY WORKER WHO DIDN’T GO BACK TO THE BOOK DEPOSITORY
This is in reference to after the assassination when the widespread misinformation was presented that Oswald was the only Depository employee to leave the Depository after the assassination- the presumption being that he was fleeing. But it is known that several Depository employees didn’t return to work after the assassination, but not one of them was scrutinized in the least. At this point I want to admit that I believe Oswald had some involvement in the assassination at some level, but I believe that was at a low level and that he did, in fact, flee from the assassination area. But I believe this not because he acted alone but because he knew he might be implicated and that something bad would happen if he remained in the Dealey Plaza area.

7. SCOPING FOR COPS, OSWALD DRIVES A FEW BLOCKS PAST HIS ROOMING HOUSE.
Well this one is a astounding. First, there is no evidence Oswald was in this cab, nor if there was that he was scoping out for cops and this was the reason he passed his rooming house. And if he was scoping for cops, he must have felt satisfied there weren’t any if he got out of the cab. But if he was satisfied there weren’t any then why didn’t he just have the cab driver take him all the way to his rooming house? Odds are, the fact that the man who was in the cab got out several blocks from Oswald’s rooming house was because he wasn’t Oswald! Again, there is much more substantial evidence that he got in a Rambler station wagon in Dealey Plaza. Time trials done for Oswald’s bus and cab rides have also shown he didn’t have enough time to cover this distance before reaching his rooming house at 1 p.m. (only 30 minutes after the assassination).

8. IN A FLYING VISIT, OSWALD GETS HIS REVOLVER
All right, finally we have a statement with some credence to it, at least with regards to Oswald being a co-conspirator or at least somewhat in the know involving the assassination. He most likely grabbed his revolver for protection as it seems he fled to the Texas Theatre later so as to meet a contact that likely never showed up. But he felt he needed protection along the way for concern of what might happen to him if for some reason people came after him.

9. OSWALD’S ACTS SUSPICIOUSLY AND KILLS OFFICER TIPPIT
As expected, Oswald grabbing his revolver is used to bolster the idea that he killed Officer Tippit a short while later. Now there is far too much involved in the Tippit killings to go into all of it, but there is ample reason to believe that Oswald wasn’t even there. He had only 3 to 4 minutes to walk to the shooting scene from his rooming house a mile away. If it cannot be proven Oswald was even there then there is no credence in the statement that he “acted suspiciously”. The Warren Commission said the shooting happened aroundf 1:16 p.m. but all credible evidence puts it happening around 1:08. Two witnesses saw Oswald enter the Texas Theatre right around this time. How could he have been in two places at once? The bullets recovered from Tippit’s body could only be argued as possibly coming from Oswald’s revolver, which was in shoddy condition. Police initially said an automatic weapon was used, which Oswald didn’t have. Witnesses that claimed the killer was Oswald described him as wearing different types of clothes and clothes that didn’t match what he wore when he was arrested at the Texas Theatre. The discrepancies go on and on.

10. OSWALD EVADES POLICE AND SNEAKS INTO THE TEXAS THEATRE
Again, witnesses put Oswald in the theatre around the time Tippit was killed. The real killer of Tippit was chased and ultimately cornered by police in a crowded parking lot before, by chance, they all fled the scene to report to the Texas Theatre. A man had snuck into the theatre, long after Oswald had arrived, and apparently his desire to sneak into a movie theatre was proof that he was a cop killer and Presidential assassin so a plethora of officers arrived on the scene and snatched him up. If there was any action suspicious in this case it was the intuitive actions of the the Dallas Police bearing down on the Texas Theatre to take in a guy who snuck in. Another witness even saw police drag a man out the back of the theatre and throw him into a squad car. This was not Oswald. So who was he?

11. OSWALD STANDS UP AND SAYS “WELL IT’S ALL OVER NOW”
This is reportedly the approximate words Oswald said when he was approached by officers and proceeded to struggle with them. Yes, I’m not an idiot, these do look like the actions of a guilty man. And again, I believe that he was involved at some level or another, but I don’t believe he was the one man. It’s been argued that Oswald tried to take out an officer with his revolver but an examination of his revolver showed he hadn’t. The key question to this is, if he so callously took out Officer Tippit, why did he hold back here? Oswald may have been fearful of his life. If he was involved in a plot at any level he had to know once the assassination was carried out that any loose ends such as himself would be “taken care of”. And he was, after all, killed himself 48 hours later. I believe this was an effort to protect himself. But fortunately it was not the police that killed him, just one of their closest buddies, Jack Ruby.

12. WHY WOULD OSWALD NEED TO ATTACK AND RESIST ARREST?
Well, I pretty much addressed this above. Again, if Oswald was the assassin and a cold-blooded killer who took out the President he would know he was going to go down. So why not go out guns blazing? His revolver was fully loaded when he was arrested, but he never fired a shot. Hardly the actions of a killer. Again, I stand by what I said before, that his aggressive actions were to protect himself, for he likely feared the police may have surrounded him there to take him out (the Dallas Police weren’t exactly lacking in corruption at that time).

13. OSWALD CONTINUALLY DENIED OWNING THE CARCANO RIFLE. IT WAS PROVEN HE OWNED THE RIFLE, WHICH WAS FOUND WITH HIS PALM PRINT.
Good Lord, someone needs to do his research. In the publication I wrote I dedicated over 30 pages to proof that Oswald never purchased the Carcano (and in the years since I’ve found at least 15 pages worth of further evidence). I can’t go into it all so I will be quick about it. Klein’s Sporting Goods did not have any 40” rifles like the Carcano Oswald supposedly bought. All the documentation proving Oswald bought the weapon was taken from Klein’s’ microfilm that the FBI took and never returned so these documents cannot be proven to be authentic. Oswald’s money order shows no stamping to prove it had been processed and cashed, thus he never paid for the weapon. Oswald only allowed mail to be delivered to his box that was in his name, yet he purchased the rifle using the alias “A. Hidell”. By postal regulations he couldn’t have received this weapon in the mail. There is no proof outside of some shaky and some later redacted accounts that he ever had a rifle. And as far as the palm print goes, the documentation is there. No prints coming from Oswald were found on the rifle. It wasn’t until days after the assassination that his prints were found on the rifle and this wasn’t till after FBI agents went to the funeral home where his body was, with the rifle, and printed Oswald. It’s clear that his prints were put on the rifle after his death. And that print is the only verification that he owned the rifle.

14. OSWALD SAID HE HADN’T BEEN “CHARGED” FOR MURDERING THE PRESIDENT WHEN ASKED IF HE KILLED HIM.
This is what I call a “stretch”. People love to take what potential criminals or killers say and make something out of every remotely awkward statement they make, as those all humans know exactly how to speak at any given moment. The implication is clear here: since Oswald didn’t outright say no, he didn’t kill the President but that he hadn’t been charged for it was him admitting he was the killer by evading a completely dishonest answer. But the fact of the matter is that he still started his response with, “No.” And the video cuts after his “I haven’t been charged” statement so we don’t have to hear the rest of what Oswald says. At this moment all he knew was that he had been charged for killing Officer Tippit cause it would be another hour and a half before he would be charged for killing Kennedy. So when he said he hadn’t been charged with it he was more likely trying to clarify what he knew about why he was there, which at that time was just for killing a police officer. And he said that outright! His later statement was that he had been accused of murdering a policeman and that he knew nothing more than that. If this word usage is considered definitive proof of guilt by the creator of this video then he/she needs to engage in some serious examination into the human language and how we speak as well as how our legal system works (and what qualifies as “proof” and  “evidence”.)

15. OSWALD DENIED LIVING ON NEELY STREET. THE BACKYARD PHOTOS WERE TAKEN “IN” NEELY STREET
Well first things first, just to be a smart ass, the pictures weren’t taken “in” Neely Street but rather in the backyard of the home the Oswald’s lived in on Neely Street. Now it is true, one of the few things Oswald was deceptive about was living on Neely Street, but this alone is not proof that he was an assassin. And the only thing their Neely Street address has going for it in terms of significance is that it is where the backyard pictures were supposedly taken. These pictures over the years have been proven by so many photographic experts to be fake in so many ways. We have pictures taken in a matter of a minute or two and yet Oswald’s body varies in sizes, the gun in the picture is missing its scope and he has shadows falling in two different directions. The Oswald in the picture has a flat chin while Oswald’s was pointy. The pictures were found in the Paine home randomly after several police searches didn’t turn them up. The problems go on.

16. LEE HARVEY OSWALD HAD THE OPTION TO HIDE HIS FACE BUT SAID HE HADN’T DONE ANYTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF
Once again, we have an unsubstantiated presumption and stretch of Oswald’s words. The implication is that Oswald was proud of killing the President and thus his not shielding his face and claiming he wasn’t ashamed were justification to him that he had done good in killing the President. But even the Dallas Police didn’t see things that way. And this statement could have just as well, and was more likely the words of a man who may have been involved but wasn’t an assassin claiming that he was not who he was being presented as and thus was not going to behave like a guilty man.

17. OSWALD SAID HE WASN’T IN MEXICO CITY AND THEN LATER ADMITTED HE WAS
Again, another deception that is not proof that he was Kennedy’s killer. While there is only shaky evidence that Oswald went to Mexico City, none of it corresponds to reasons why he’d want to kill Kennedy. It’s been argued that he was trying to get to Cuba to help in efforts to kill Castro, or perhaps was trying to get back to the Soviet Union. But whatever the case, there is nothing in this statement that screams “I killed the President.” Another misrepresentation.

18. THE FIST IS A SIGN OF COMMUNIST POWER!
This statement is followed by a famous picture of Oswald in which he seems to be holding up his fist while in police custody. Even if this has a credible connection to each other and it’s proof Oswald was a Communist, this doesn’t prove that he was Kennedy’s killer. There were plenty of Communists, Socialists and Marxists living in America who didn’t kill Kennedy. And based on the picture it looks more to me like he’s trying to show the onlooking press that he is handcuffed. Again, no proof or admission of guilt as an assassin.

19. OSWALD SAID HE WAS ARRESTED BECAUSE HE LIVED IN THE SOVIET UNION. HE LIED, HE WAS ACTUALLY ARRESTED FOR KILLING OFFICER TIPPIT.
This is probably the most nonsensical one in the bunch and it makes my brain hurt trying to grasp the logic of it. Anyone who honestly thinks when Oswald said he was taken in because he lived in the Soviet Union as a claim that he was being arrested for being a Communist needs to go back to school because they obviously haven’t finished first grade yet. In making this statement it is abundantly clear that he was presenting an ulterior motive behind why he was being treated as the killer of Officer Tippit and President Kennedy. It’s a defensive argument such as if a man who was a gun enthusiast is arrested for the mysterious shooting of someone he knew he might say, “They’re arresting me because this guy got shot and I like guns.” But it’s insane to say that that statement by Oswald is meant to be taken literally, that he was arrested for living in the Soviet Union. How this is proof of his guilt, furthermore, is beyond me, especially since the maker of this video obviously didn’t even understand the context of the statement made.

20. MARINA OSWALD TELLS US THE MOVIE “SUDDENLY” MADE A STRONG IMPACT ON OSWALD.
And here we go. Let’s blame the movies for making a killer. We tried it for school shooter Kipland Kinkel who loved the violent contemporary take on “Romeo and Juliet”. The film “Psycho” was blamed for leading a man on a killing spree. Even an episode of “Beavis and Butthead” where they destroy a building was blamed for leading a young person to burning a building down. The 1954 film “Suddenly”, a decent suspense thriller, is about radicals who take over the home of a small town family with the intention of using it as a location to kill the President as he passes through town. The correspondence to Oswald can be made rather quick. But you know what, I liked the film too. It had an impression on me. Am I going to become a political assassin? The movie is in the public domain and has been posted several times on YouTube, wherein hundreds of people have marked liking the film. Are they all going to become killers. The film has a favorable rating on IMDB, as rated by over 3,000 people. Are most of them going to become killers because the movie had a positive influence on them. The film is a good film, did anyone think that’s why Oswald may have liked it. And regardless, I have never heard this statement verified anywhere. But even if it is, there is again no proof here that this meant he was Kennedy’s killer.
And that’s it. That’s the evidence this character posted as proof of Oswald’s many “admissions” of guilt. Only two or three of them have any real credence and all the rest are either blatantly incorrect or based entirely on biased presumptions based on things Oswald said. The fact is that at the end of the day there is ample proof he was not Kennedy or Tippit’s killer. I guess in that regard it can be of no surprise that in the case of someone trying to show Oswald’s guilt that they wouldn’t have much credible evidence to fall back on. But it was such an absurd collection of reasons that I couldn’t help but leave a lengthy commentary on it.
